What is Acinic cell carcinoma?

  • Acinic cell carcinoma: A usually slow-growing malignant tumor that that can occur in various parts of the body but is most often found in the pancreas, salivary glands, palate and upper lip. Symptoms are determined by the size and location of the growth.

Acinic cell carcinoma is listed as a "rare disease" by the Office of Rare Diseases (ORD) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This means that Acinic cell carcinoma, or a subtype of Acinic cell carcinoma, affects less than 200,000 people in the US population.
