Glossary for Acrocephalosyndactyly II

  • Acanthosis nigricans: It is a brown to black, poorly defined, velvety hyperpigmentation of the skin usually present in the posterior and lateral folds of the neck, the axilla, groin, umbilicus and other areas.
  • Bulging eyes: Bulging or protruding eyes
  • Craniosynostosis: A defect involving the fusion of one or more bones in the skull before it has finished growing which affects the head size and shape and can affect the growth of the brain. The defect is often associated with other conditions. Symptoms are determined by which skull bones are prematurely fused.
  • Exophthalmos: Protrusion of one or both eyes
  • Eye symptoms: Symptoms affecting the eye
  • Eye twitching: Involuntary twitching movements of the eyes
