Glossary for Adrenal Cancer

Addison's Disease: A rare progressive hormonal disorder characterized by insufficient production of certain hormones called adrenal corticosteroids.
Adrenal disorders: Disorders affecting the adrenal glands
Adrenal gland symptoms: Symptoms affecting the adrenal glands
Adrenal insufficiency: Where there is insufficient secretion of hormones secreted from the adrenal glands
Adrenocortical carcinoma: A condition which is characterized by malignancy which affects the adrenocortex.
Cancer: Abnormal overgrowth of body cells.
Death: The cessation of life
Endocrine system cancer: Cancer that affects any gland in the endocrine system
Excessive fat on top of back:
Hair loss: Loss or thinning of head or body hair
Hirsutism: Increased hairiness
Increased libido: Increased sexual desires and urges
Kidney Cancer: Cancer that forms in tissues of the kidneys
Lung cancer: Lung cancer is a disease of uncontrolled cell growth in tissues of the lung. This growth may lead to metastasis, which is the invasion of adjacent tissue and infiltration beyond the lungs. Most lung tumors are malignant.
Masculinisation: Increased male physical appearance in females
Metastatic cancer: Any cancer that has spread to other parts of the body.
No symptoms: The absence of noticable symptoms.
Pheochromocytoma: Pheochromocytoma is a neuroendocrine tumor of the medulla of the adrenal glands (originating in the chromaffin cells), or extra-adrenal chromaffin tissue that failed to involute after birth and secretes excessive amounts of catecholamines, usually epinephrine and norepinephrine.
Polycystic ovary syndrome: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disorder that affects approximately 5% of all women.
Von Hippel-Lindau Disease: Genetic disease causing multiple benign tumors
