Glossary for Amphetamine abuse

Alcohol Withdrawal: Symptoms that occur when alcohol consumption is discontinued or reduced. Symptoms may vary depending on the level of dependence.
Alertness: A state of function in which someone is watchfull
Amnesia: Memory loss
Anxiety: Excessive worry, anxiety, or fear.
Automobile accidents injury: An injury caused by the mechanism of a car accident
Behavioral disorders: Disorders affecting behavior and emotional wellbeing
Benzodiazepine - Teratogenic Agent: There is strong evidence to indicate that exposure to Benzodiazepine during pregnancy may have a teratogenic effect on the fetus. A teratogen is a substance that can cause birth defects. The likelihood and severity of defects may be affected by the level of exposure and the stage of pregnancy that the exposure occurred at.
Choreoathetosis: Choreoathetosis is the occurrence of involuntary movements in a combination of chorea and athetosis.
Chronic anxiety: anxiety is a feeling of apprehension or fear
Collapse: Physical or mental process shutdown
Death: The cessation of life
Depression: Various syndromes with excessive anxiety, phobias, or fear.
Euphoria: Extreme happiness or raised mood
Excitement: The sensation of increased anxiety and anticipation
Fetal Growth Retardation: Impaired growth of the fetus due to any cause. Causes include maternal cyanotic heart disease, chronic maternal hypertension, placental abnormalities and multiple births.
Forgetfulness: Forgetting things or loss of memory ability
Heart attack: Serious and often fatal acute heart condition
Hyperactivity: Excessive action and lack of control.
Hypertension: High blood pressure
Impaired thinking: The impairment of ones ability to think clearly
Insomnia: Insomnia is defined as repeated difficulty with the initiation, duration, maintenance, or quality of sleep that occurs despite adequate time and opportunity for sleep that results in some form of daytime impairment.
Irregular heartbeat: An irregular beat of a persons heart
Mania: Inappropriate euphoric mood
Marijuana abuse: Illicit depressant/hallucinogenic drug
Miscarriage: Loss of fetus without human interference
Panic attack: Sudden attack of unreasonable panic or fear without any real danger
Psychosis: Mental loss of connection with reality
Rapid heart beat: Excessively fast heart beat (fast pulse) called "tachycardia"
Seizures - intellectual deficit due to hydroxylysinuria: A rare syndrome characterized by mental retardation, seizures and high levels of hydroxylysine in the urine.
Sleep disturbance: Sleeping difficulty, called insomnia, can involve difficulty falling asleep when you first go to bed at night, waking up too early in the morning, and waking up often during the night.
Stroke: Serious brain event from bleeding or blood clots.
Trismus: Inability to open the jaw.
Vaginal bleed in pregnancy: Vaginal bleed in pregnancy refers to blood often found on underwear, the toilet paper, in the toilet bowl or after sexual intercourse. The blood loss may or may not be accompanied by other symptoms such as pain.
Weight loss: Loss of body weight.
