Introduction: Aortic valve disease

Any damage or impairment of the aortic valve which is one of four heart valves and controls the flow of blood from the heart into the aorta which supplies the rest of the body with blood. The valve may become stiff, not close properly or not open properly and the degree to which this happens determines the seriousness of the condition.

Symptoms of Aortic valve disease

• Breathlessness
• Angina - usually from aortic stenosis
• Shortness of breath
• Dizziness
• Fainting
