Cure Research for Autonomic neuropathy

Medical Research Breakthroughs and Autonomic neuropathy

Gentamicin collagen sponge for treatment of diabetic foot: Innocoll, a private pharmaceutical company received FDA approval on January 22, 2007 to commence a phase 2 clinical trial for the topical treatment of infected diabetic foot ulcers with CollaRx Gentamicin. Gentamicin is a topical antibiotic used for mildly infected diabetic ulcers. CollaRx Gentamicin is a biodegradable and fully resorbable Gentamicin- collagen sponge which upon application to the wound releases gentamicin a broad spectrum amino glycoside which achieves high concentration at the target tissue while maintaining low systemic levels well below the toxicity threshold. The surgical implant is already approved and marketed in Europe and non-US territories as an adjunct to systemic therapy. Published case studies and anecdotal reports from clinicians using the product suggest its effectiveness in the treatment and cure of infected chronic wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers.
