Broken leg
Broken leg: Introduction
A break or fracture of a bone in the leg. Most broken legs are as a result of a fall or accident. The leg consists of 4 bones connected by three joints - hip, knee and ankle. The time taken for a broken leg to heal depends on the location and type of break and can take as little as a few weeks or as long as a few months. The femur (bone in the top part of the leg) is the longest and strongest bone in the body.
