Glossary for Chlamydia pneumoniae

  • Alzheimer's Disease: Dementia-causing brain disease mostly in seniors and the elderly.
  • Asthma: Repeated attacks of breathing difficulty.
  • Bacterial diseases: Diseases caused by a bacterial infection
  • Bronchitis: Bronchitis is an inflammation of the air passages within the lungs. It occurs when the trachea and the large and small bronchi within the lungs become inflamed
  • Chlamydia: Common sexually transmitted disease often without symptoms.
  • Chlamydia pneumoniae: Specific bacterial type of pneumonia
  • Fever: Elevation of the body temperature above the normal 37 degrees celsius
  • Laryngitis: Laryngitis is an inflammation of the mucous membrane lining the larynx which is located in the upper part of the respiratory tract.
  • Lung conditions: Various conditions affecting the lungs or related airways.
  • Mild cough: Cough symptoms that are not severe
  • Mild fever: The occurance of a fever but in a mild form
  • Pharyngitis: Inflammation or infection of the larynx in the throat
  • Pneumonia: Infection of the lung by bacteria, viruses or fungus.
  • Psittacosis: An infectious disease caused by Chlamydia psittaci and transmitted mainly by infected birds but also by some mammals.

  • Sinusitis: Sinusitis is an inflammation of the paranasal sinuses.
  • Tonsilitis: Inflammation of the tonsils in the throat.
