Classic galactosemia
Classic galactosemia: Introduction
A disorder where the body does not produce enzymes that can metabolize galactose which causes it to build up to high concentrations in the body resulting in damage to the liver, nervous system and other body organs. The condition is a rare inherited enzyme disorder. Galactose is a sugar found in dairy products.
