Introduction: Congenital SMA with arthrogryposis

A rare type of spinal muscular atrophy that appears from birth. Spinal muscular atrophy is a genetic motor neurone disease which involves the gradual deterioration of the voluntary muscles. Arthrogryposis refers to multiple joint contractures that are present at birth. Joint contractures are limitations of joint movement.

Symptoms of Congenital SMA with arthrogryposis

• Persistent joint contracture
• Fixed abnormal limb posture
• Severe contractures
• Scoliosis
• Chest deformity
