Genetic-recessive: Recessive genetic diseases of any chromosome (sex or non-sex)
Introduction: Recessive Diseases affect a single gene on an autosome or the X chromosome. Autosomal recessive diseases affect a gene on chromosome 1..22 that is a recessive gene. Disease occurs when both copies of a gene on chromosome 1..22 is inherited from both parents. In other words, disease occurs only when two bad genes are inherited, once from each parent.
X-linked autosomal diseases affect a single gene on the X chromosome. The inheritance pattern differs from autosomal recessive diseases, because children only receive X chromosomes from their mother. Typically, a mother is a carrier, and the male children may get the disease or be disease-free. Daughters may become carriers or be disease-free.
