Despite the availability of highly reliable methods of contraception, unplanned pregnancies still occur and many of the most effective contraceptive methods, such as "The Pill" and the IUD, put all the responsibility and risk of side effects on the shoulders of the woman.
Scientists are now testing effective male hormonal contraceptive in the form of pills, patches, gels, implants, and injections. Like their female counterparts, these male contraceptives use hormones to lower a man's sperm count. They also come with side effects.
