Glossary for Dental abscess

  • Abscess: General name for any pus-filled lump or swelling
  • Analgesia: A condition which is characterized by an absence of pain
  • Cheek swelling: A swelling located on the cheek.
  • Endocarditis: Inflammation of the inner lining of the heart
  • Facial pain: Pain affecting the face
  • Fever: Elevation of the body temperature above the normal 37 degrees celsius
  • Gingivitis: Inflammation of the gums
  • Glossopharyngeal neuralgia: A condition which is characterized by sever pain that originates on the side of the throat and extends to the ear
  • Gum symptoms: Dental symptoms affecting the gums
  • Halitosis: Bad breath
  • Headache: In medicine a headache or cephalalgia is a symptom of a number of different conditions of the head and sometimes neck. Some of the causes are benign while others are medical emergencies. It ranks among the most common pain complaints
  • Sialadenitis: Salivary gland inflammation due to obstruction of the salivary gland or a duct.
  • Sinusitis: Sinusitis is an inflammation of the paranasal sinuses.
  • Swollen gums: Swelling of the gums or the gum region
  • Tooth abscess: Pus-filled abscess of a tooth
  • Toothache: Tooth pain caused by irritation of a nerve in the tooth root. The tooth pain may result from tooth decay, infection, injury or tooth loss.
  • Trigeminal neuralgia: Trigeminal neuralgia is a very painful inflammation of the nerve (trigeminal nerve) that delivers sensations to the face and "surface" of the eye.
