Dissociative disorder

Dissociative disorder: Introduction

Dissociative disorders refer to disorders where the person dissociates or becomes separate from themselves or their identity. This group of disorders is not the same as psychotic disorders, which are more about loss of touch with reality in terms of delusions and paranoia, rather than loss of touch with themselves. However, it is possible to have dissociative symptoms as part of a psychotic disorder such schizophrenia, or also in major depression.
