Dissociative Identity Disorder

Dissociative Identity Disorder: Introduction

A psychiatric disorder where there are two or more distinct personalities existing within one individual. Any one of these personalities may be the dominant personality at any particular time. The personalities may be quite different from each other and each exists with its own set of behaviours, emotions and thought processes. The condition used to be known as multiple personality disorder.
