Glossary for Dupuytren's contracture

  • Alcohol-induced pseudo-Cushing syndrome: The excessive consumption of alcohol can result in symptoms similar to a condition called Cushing's syndrome. When alcohol consumption is stopped, symptoms regress.
  • Chronic Illness: Any form of continuing chronic illness.
  • Cirrhosis of liver: Chronic liver disease wherein normal liver parenchyma is replaced by fibrous tissue.
  • Finger pain: Pain affecting the fingers
  • Hand conditions: Any condition that affects the hand
  • Hand symptoms: Symptoms affecting the hand
  • Hypodontia and Dupuytren contracture: A rare syndrome characterized by missing teeth and Dupuytren contracture which is a hand condition where fingers bend in towards the hand and are unable to be fully straightened.
  • Palm pain: A feeling of distress and agonycaused by the stimulation of pain nerve endings in the palm of the hand
  • Peyronie's disease: Hard lump on the penis often causing bending.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis: Autoimmune form of arthritis usually in teens or young adults.
  • Trigger finger: It is a type of stenosing tenosynovitis in which the sheath around a tendon in a thumb or finger becomes swollen, or a nodule forms on the tendon.
