Glossary for Erythema nodosum

Arm symptoms: Symptoms affecting the arm
Bacterial diseases: Diseases caused by a bacterial infection
Behcet's Disease: Recurring inflammation of small blood vessels affecting various areas.
Besnier-Boeck-Schaumann disease: A rare disease where inflammatory granular nodules form in various organs.
Blastomycosis: A fungal infection caused by Blastomyces dermatitidis and resulting in lung, skin, bone and genitourinary involvement.
Bruising: Bleeding under skin leading to discoloration.
Chlamydial Infection: Infection from Chlamydia genus.
Coccidioidomycosis: An infectious disease caused by a fungus called Coccidioides immitis which is found in the soil. Transmission usually occurs through inhalation but can rarely occur through the skin. Very rarely, infection can spread throughout the body to involve the skin, bones, joints, lungs and central nervous system which can be fatal if untreated.
Coccidiomycosis:
Crohn's disease: Crohn's disease causes inflammation of the digestive system. It is one of a group of diseases called inflammatory bowel disease. The disease can affect any area from the mouth to the anus. It often affects the lower part of the small intestine called the ileum.
Epstein-Barr virus: Common virus causing mononucleosis
Erythema: A condition which is characterized by redness of the skin due to congestion of the capillaries
Erythema multiforme: An allergic inflammatory skin disorder which has a variety of causes and results in skin and mucous membrane lesions that affect mainly the hands, forearms, feet, mouth nose and genitals.
Fever: Elevation of the body temperature above the normal 37 degrees celsius
Fungal infections: Any condition caused by fungus.
Gout: Painful joints, most commonly the big toe.
Histoplasmosis: Lung infection from fungus Histoplasma capsulatum
Leprosy: A chronic, progressive infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae which causes skin sores and also affects the eyes, mucous membranes and peripheral nerves.
Leptospirosis: Bacterial infection usually caught from animal urine.
Leukemia: Cancer of the blood cells, usually white blood cells.
Lymphogranuloma venereum: Type of chlamydia (sexually transmitted disease)
Lymphoma: Cancer involving lymph nodes and the immune system.
Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma: A type of lymphoma, a cancer affecting lymph nodes and the immune system.
Polychondritis: A serious, progressive, episodic condition characterized by inflammation and degeneration of cartilage in the body. The duration and severity of the episodes can vary.
Pregnancy: The condition of supporting a fetus from conception till birth.
Psittacosis: An infectious disease caused by Chlamydia psittaci and transmitted mainly by infected birds but also by some mammals.
Rheumatic fever: An inflammatory disorder that can occur as a complication of untreated streptococcal bacterial infection such as strep throat or scarlet fever. The condition may affect the brain, skin, heart and joints.
Rickettsia: A self limiting condition that is transmitted by mites
Sarcoidosis: Rare autoimmune disease usually affecting the lungs.
Say-Barber-Miller syndrome: A very rare syndrome characterized mainly by immune system problems and a small head.
Skin bumps: Bumps or lumps on the skin.
Skin conditions: Any condition that affects the skin

Streptococcal Infections: Various "strep" bacterial infections.
Superficial thrombophlebitis: Inflammation of a vein wall
Sweet Syndrome:
Toxoplasmosis: Infection often caught from cats and their feces.
Tuberculosis: Bacterial infection causing nodules forming, most commonly in the lung.
Ulcerative colitis: Ulcerative colitis (Colitis ulcerosa, UC) is a form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Ulcerative colitis is a form of colitis, a disease of the intestine, specifically the large intestine or colon, that includes characteristic ulcers, or open sores, in the colon.
Ulcerative proctosigmoiditis: Ulcerative proctosigmoiditisis an idiopathic chronicinflammatory disorder limited to the sigmoid colon and the rectum.
Viral diseases: Any disease that is caused by a virus
Yersinia pseudotuberculosis: An infectious disease caused by a bacterium called Yersinia pseudotuberculosis which is transmitted from direct and indirect contact with infected animals. Human to human transmission may also occur through fecal-oral contact.
Yersiniosis: A condition which is characterized by infectious diarrhea, enteritis, ileitis and occasionally septicaemia
