Infection by a parasitic flatworm called a fluke. The infection can occur in the digestive tract as well as other organs such as the liver. A person can become infected by consuming uncooked fish, plants or animals from waters that are fluke-infested. The two main types of flukes that can affect humans are liver flukes and lung flukes which can result in diseases such as Schistosomiasis, fascioliasis, opisthorchiasis and paragonmiasis.
