Glossary for Gianotti-Crosti Syndrome

• Acrodermatitis: A skin condition that occurs mainly in children and is most often present on the limbs. It involves a bumpy skin rash with fever and malaise sometimes also occurring. The disorder itself is harmless by may be signify viral infections such as hepatitis B and Epstein-Barr.
• Eczema: Eczema is a chronic skin condition characterized by skin inflammation and irritation. The severity of extent of the condition is highly variable. It may be caused by allergies, irritants or other factors such as stress.
• Epstein-Barr virus: Common virus causing mononucleosis
• Hepatitis B: Viral liver infection spread by sex or body fluids.
• Hepatocellular jaundice: A condition which is characterized by jaundice due to injury or damage to the hepatocellular cells of the liver
• Mild fever: The occurance of a fever but in a mild form
• Parainfluenza: Milder influenza-like infection
• Respiratory syncytial virus: Viral respiratory infection serious in young infants.
• Skin lump: The occurrence of a lump that is located on the skin
