Glossary for Hand eczema

  • Allergic contact dermatitis: An allergic contact dermatitis is where the body's immune system causes a skin reaction in response to direct contact with an allergen. Symptoms usually only affect the skin directly in contact with the allergen but in severe cases, symptoms may spread around the contact site or even become widespread across the body.
  • Allergic reaction: An acute reaction through exposure to a particular allergen
  • Atopic dermatitis: Skin disorder characterized by chronic inflammation, and pruritis. Often hereditary and associated with allergic rhinitis and asthma.
  • Dry skin: Dryness of the skin.
  • Fissures: Any cleft or groove especially a deep fold in the cerebral cortex involving its entire thickness
  • Insomnia: Insomnia is defined as repeated difficulty with the initiation, duration, maintenance, or quality of sleep that occurs despite adequate time and opportunity for sleep that results in some form of daytime impairment.
  • Itching skin: Itching feeling of the skin.
  • Peeling skin: Skin peeling off
  • Skin infection: A condition which is characterized by an infection which occurs on the skin
