Glossary for Hyperemesis Gravidarum

  • Acidosis: Excess acidic toxins or waste products in the blood
  • Bowel Obstruction: Blockage in the bowel of the digestive tract.
  • Choriocarcinoma: Rare cancer of the placenta
  • Death: The cessation of life
  • Dehydration: Loss of fluids in the body
  • Dizziness: Feelings of lightheadedness or giddiness.
  • Hepatocellular jaundice: A condition which is characterized by jaundice due to injury or damage to the hepatocellular cells of the liver
  • Hydatidiform mole: A rare condition where an abnormal union between an egg and a sperm results in the formation of grape-like cysts instead of a baby. The growth is not malignant.
  • Hyperthyroidism: Too much thyroid hormone production.
  • Kwashiorkor: A malnutrition state that is produced by severe protein deficiency
  • Liver conditions: Any condition that affects the liver
  • Morning sickness: Pregnancy-related nausea or vomiting, usually in mornings.
  • Pyelonephritis: Kidney and ureter infection usually bacterial from the bladder.
  • Tiredness: Feeling tired either physically or mentally
  • Weight loss: Loss of body weight.
