Ileitis

Introduction: Ileitis

An inflammation of the ileum which is the final section of the small intestine. The inflammation may be a result of infection, obstruction, severe irritation or malfunction of the absorption processes of the intestinal wall. Ileitis is often accompanied by some sort of abdominal pain.

Symptoms of Ileitis

• Abdominal pain
• Abdominal tenderness
• Bowel irregularity
• Weight loss
• Thickened intestinal wall
