Glossary for Inflammatory breast cancer

  • Brachial Plexus Injury: Damage to the nerves controlling the shoulder and arm (often from childbirth).
  • Breast Cancer: Cancer of the breast.
  • Breast lump: Any type of lump in the breast
  • Breast swelling: Swelling or enlargement of one or both breasts
  • Breast symptoms: Any symptom affecting one or both breasts.
  • Death: The cessation of life
  • Fibroadenoma: Benign tumor containing fibrous tissues and glands (common in breasts)
  • Fibrocystic breasts: The development of benign fluid-filled cysts in the breasts as well as scar-like tissue. The cysts can make breast cancer examinations more difficult.
  • Hemorrhage: Bleeding of any type (especially when referring to severe bleeding)
  • Lymphedema: Swelling causes by lymphatic fluid retention
  • Mastitis: Infected breast common in nursing mothers
  • Metastatic cancer: Any cancer that has spread to other parts of the body.
  • Obesity: An increase in the body weight greater than that required for normal function that is characterised by the accumulation of excessive fat
