IV infection

IV infection: Introduction

An infection that occurs at the site of an intravenous line which is used to deliver fluid or medication into a patient's vein. The infection can cause swelling, redness and fever at the site of the IV insertion. An infection of a central IV line carries a higher risk of septicemia (blood poisoning) which is a serious condition.

Antibiotics often causes diarrhea: The use of antibiotics are very likely to cause some level of diarrhea in patients.
