Glossary for Kleptomania

  • Anti-Social Personality Disorder: A psychiatric condition characterized by chronic behavioral and social problems which often involves criminal behaviour.
  • Borderline Personality Disorder: Mental condition with behavioral and emotional problems.
  • Conduct Disorder: Behavioral disorder with antisocial behaviors
  • Dementia: Various mental impairment conditions.
  • Dermatillomania: A form of obsessive compulsive disorder where a person compulsively picks at their own skin. Sufferers can feel the pain they inflict on themselves but the feelings of gratification and stress relief prevent them from stopping. The severity and extent of damage to the skin is variable. Stress and anxiety can trigger the compulsive skin picking.
  • Impulse Control Disorders: Disorders where people have difficulty controlling their impulses
  • Intermittent Explosive Disorder: Episodes of explosively aggressive behavior
  • Malingering: The faking or exaggeration of symptoms of a particular condition
  • Mania: Inappropriate euphoric mood
  • Mental illness: Any psychological syndrome
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder: Behavioral disorder with obsessive thoughts and compulsive acts.
  • Psychiatric disorders: Any condition that affects ones mind
  • Psychological disorders: Any condition that affects ones mind
  • Pyromania: Compulsive arson and fire starting behavior disorder
  • Schizophrenia: Psychiatric disorder with delusional beliefs and hallucinations.
  • Trichotillomania: A mental disorder where a person feels compelled to pull out their own hair.
