Leukodystrophy: Introduction

Any of a group of central nervous system diseases involving demyelination of parts of the white matter of the brain. The diseases are progressive and are often caused by inborn errors of lipid metabolism. Examples of leukodystrophies are Krabbe's disease and metachromatic leukodystrophy.
