Complications list for Lyme disease:
The list of complications that have been mentioned in various sources for Lyme disease includes:
- Arthritis - often occurs several months after the tick bite.
- Chronic arthritis (see Joint pain)
- Permanent joint damage (see Joint symptoms)
- Meningitis
- Aseptic meningitis
- Bell's palsy
- Radiculitis
- Encephalopathy
- Heart abnormalities (see Heart symptoms)
- Heart inflammation
- Heart enlargement
- Eye inflammation
- Conjunctivitis
- Hepatitis
- Severe fatigue
- Encephalomyelitis
- Heart damage - rare if Lyme is treated.
- Muscle aches
- Memory problems
- Concentration problems
- Persistent fatigue (see Fatigue)
- Prenatal infection (see Pregnancy symptoms) - the unborn child can get Lyme disease from a pregnant woman
- Miscarriage
- Stillbirth

Complications of Lyme disease:
Relapse and incomplete treatment responses occur. Complications of untreated early-stage disease include: 40%-60% joint disease; 15%-20% neurologic disease; 8% carditis; and 10% or more are hospitalized, some with chronic debilitating conditions.
