Glossary for Mastocytosis

• Abdominal discomfort: The sensation of discomfort located in the abdomen
• Anaphylaxis: A rare, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction.
• Blood conditions: Conditions that affect the blood
• Bone pain: Bone pain or tenderness is aching or other discomfort in one or more bones.
• Bronchitis: Bronchitis is an inflammation of the air passages within the lungs. It occurs when the trachea and the large and small bronchi within the lungs become inflamed
• Bronchospasm: sudden spasm of the bronchi
• Cachexia: physical wasting with loss of weight and muscle mass caused by disease
• Cancer: Abnormal overgrowth of body cells.
• Conjunctivitis: Contagious eye infection
• Cutaneous mastocytosis: Skin mastocytosis
• Diarrhea: Loose or watery stool.
• Digestive symptoms: Any symptoms affecting the digestive tract.
• Hyperpigmentation: Excess skin pigment or coloration
• Itching skin: Itching feeling of the skin.
• Malabsorption: Failure to digest nutrients properly
• Malabsorption syndrome: is an alteration in the ability of the intestine to absorb nutrients adequately into the bloodstream
• Muscle pain: Pain that is located anatomically in the region of muscles
• Nausea: The queasy feeling of nausea and often also vomiting.
• Osteoporosis: Bone thinning and weakening from bone calcium depletion.
• Pruritus: The sensation of itch
• Rhinitis: Nasal lining inflammation leading to runny/blocked nose
• Syncope: Temporary loss of conciousness or fainting.
• Systemic mastocytosis: A condition which is characterized by an accumulation of mast cells in the tissues of the body
• Vomiting: Vomiting or retching symptoms.
