Glossary for Multifocal motor neuropathy

  • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: A motor neuron disease involving progressive degeneration and eventual destruction of the function of nerves that control voluntary movement.
  • Demyelination: is a destructive process of removal of myelin
  • Fasciculations: A condition which is characterized by involuntary muscular contractions visible under the skin.
  • Hand symptoms: Symptoms affecting the hand
  • Muscle atrophy: Decrease in size and bulk of muscle.
  • Muscle cramps: A condition which is characterized by the uncontrolled contractions of muscles
  • Muscle weakness: A condition which is characterized by an inability of the muscles to function at their full strenght
