Compensatory damages: Legal damages for actual monetary losses (e.g. in medical malpractice or wrongful death.)
Compensatory damages: Compensatory damages are monies paid out as damages to cover actual costs or other monetary damages that were lost by the plaintiff. For example, in a medical malpractice case, compensatory damages may be for the payment of a hospital bill. Compensatory damages can also include general damages. Punitive damages are not considered part of compensatory damages. The issues of compensatory damages and damages in general differ based on the type of law, the issue at stake, and different state and country jurisdictions. Consult an attorney or professional legal adviser for advice.
Always seek professional legal advice from an attorney or other qualified legal professional
about medical malpractice, wrongful death, personal injury, or any other legal issue.
