Achlorhydria
Introduction: Achlorhydria
Description of Achlorhydria
Achlorhydria (medical condition): A deficiency of hydrochloric acid in the digestive juices in the stomach. The resulting high pH prevents normal food digestion. The abnormality may be caused by such things as pernicious anemia, autoimmune thyroid disease and chronic gastritis.
