Introduction: Allen-Doisy test

Description of Allen-Doisy test

Allen-Doisy test: A test used to determine presence of estrogen and gonadotropins. The substance being tested is injected into a spayed mouse and the presence of cornified cells on a vaginal smear means a positive reaction.

Allen-Doisy test: a test for estrogenic activity; the material to be investigated is injected repeatedly into immature or spayed rats or mice; the disappearance of leukocytes from the vaginal smear and the appearance of cornified cells constitutes a positive reaction.
