Benzofuran (medical condition): Some evidence indicates that exposure to Benzofuran has a possible link to an increased risk of developing cancer in humans. The carcinogenicity of the substance may be influenced by the duration and level of exposure. Benzofuran exposure may occur in processes such as coal gasification, coke production, coal combustion and resin production. Tobacco smoke also contains the substance.
