Introduction: Bithionol

Description of Bithionol

Bithionol: An antiparasitic agent used for treatment of the human lungworm, Paragonimus westermani, and the Oriental liver fluke, Clonorchis sinensis; also used as a bacteriostat in soaps and detergents; sodium bithionate is used as a topical bactericide and fungicide. Now largely replaced by praziquantel therapy.
