Chinese scholar tree (medical condition): A deciduous tree which bears clusters of fragrant, pea-like flowers. The plant originated in China and is often used as an ornamental tree. The seeds contain a chemical which can cause symptoms if eaten. The seeds are considered to have a low level of toxicity.
