Cruveilhier's atrophy: A condition characterized by chronic progressive muscle wasting followed by weakness and paralysis. Affects hands, arms, shoulders and legs initially. Also called Aran-Ducheme muscular atrophy, progressive spinal muscular dystrophy or Griesinger's disease I.
