Cubilin: a receptor expressed in the apical endocytic apparatus of the renal proximal tubular epithelial cells and in gastrointestinal epithelium. In the gastrointestinal tract it is also referred to as intestinal intrinsic factor-cobalamin receptor. Cubilin is colocalized with megalin in the renal proximal tubular epithelium, with which it binds. SYN: intestinal intrinsic factor-cobalamin receptor. [CUB (complement components C1r/C1s, urinary epidermal growth factor, bone morphogenetic protein-1) + -ilin]
