Distal: (1) [TA], Situated away from the center of the body, or from the point of origin; specifically applied to the extremity or distant part of a limb or organ. SYN: distalis [TA]. (2) In dentistry, away from the median sagittal plane of the face, following the curvature of the dental arch. [L. distalis]
