Donath-Landsteiner syndrome (medical condition): A rare autoimmune blood disorder where erythrocytes are destroyed suddenly after exposure to cold (usually 15ºC or lower).

Donath-Landsteiner syndrome: A blood disorder characterized by the spontaneous breakdown of red blood cells in response to exposure to cold. Symptoms include dark urine, back and leg pain, headache, vomiting and diarrhea. Also called paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria.
