Fundus as an Organ

Fundus (organ): The fundus is one of four sections of the stomach. The fundus is located at the uppermost section of the stomach. Its function is to store accumulated gas, which is produced as a by product of digestion, and to store extra food as needed.

Conditions that afflict the fundus include stomach cancer, stomach gas, indigestion, gastric ulcer, Helicobacter pylori infection and gastritis.
