Description of Ginger

Ginger: The dried rhizome of Zingiber officinale (family Zingiberaceae), known in commerce as Jamaica ginger, African ginger, and Cochin ginger The outer cortical layers are often either partially or completely removed; used as a carminative and flavoring agent. SYN: zingiber.
