Ligamentum teres hepatis (organ): The ligamentum teres hepatis is a type of fetal remnant ligament. The ligamentum teres hepatis is a part of the falciform ligament of the liver, which attaches the liver to the abdominal wall. The ligamentum teres hepatis is one of the leftover structures that remain after the closure of the fetal umbilical vein. The fetal umbilical vein no longer serves any purpose after birth and closes soon thereafter.
