Mandibular fossa: [TA] a deep hollow in the squamous portion of the temporal bone at the root of the zygoma, in which rests the condyle of the mandible. SYN: fossa mandibularis [TA], articular fossa of temporal bone, cavitas glenoidalis, glenoid cavity, glenoid fossa (2), glenoid surface.
