Introduction: Mucorales

Description of Mucorales

Mucorales: An order of the fungal class Zygomycetes that contains all the species causing mucormycosis in humans. The genera include Cunninghamella, Rhizopus, Absidia, Rhizomucor, Mucor, Apophysomyces, Saksenaea, Syncepthalastrum, and Cokeromyces. Mortierella species are included but are of doubtful pathogenicity for humans.

Mucorales: An order of zygomycetous fungi, usually saprophytic, causing damage to food in storage, but which may cause respiratory infection or MUCORMYCOSIS in persons suffering from other debilitating diseases.
