Netherton syndrome: [MIM*256500] congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma or ichthyosis linearis circumscripta associated with bamboo hair, atopy, urticaria, intermittent aminoaciduria, and mental retardation; probably an autosomal recessive trait that frequently resolves or improves in adolescence.

• Emollients and keratolytics to assist with moisturizing the skin
• Antibiotics for infections - skin or other.
• Antihistamines
• Topical steroids - not as useful in infants due to risk of systemic complications such as suppression of pituitary gland activity. Large areas of severely damaged skin allow more absorption of the steroids.
