Nicotinamide: The biologically active amide of nicotinic acid, used in the prevention and treatment of pellagra. SYN: niacinamide, nicotinic acid amide.

Nicotinamide: Water-soluble vitamin of the B complex occurring in various animal and plant tissues. Required by the body for the formation of coenzymes NAD and NADP. Has pellagra-curative, vasodilating, and antilipemic properties.
