Description of Node

Node: Small rounded swelling or knot of tissue.

Node: [TA]Avoid using the simple word node in the sense of atrioventricular node or lymph node unless the meaning is clear from the context. (1) A knob or nodosity; a circumscribed swelling; in anatomy, a circumscribed mass of tissue. (2) A circumscribed mass of differentiated tissue. (3) A knuckle, or finger joint. SYN: nodus [TA].
