Description of Orotidylic acid decarboxylase

Orotidylic acid decarboxylase: an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of OMP to UMP and CO2; a defect or inhibition of this enzyme results in orotic aciduria and orotidinuria; this enzyme is a part of pyrimidine biosynthesis. Cf.: uridylic acid synthase SYN: OMP decarboxylase.
