Pemphigus vegetans (medical condition): A very rare skin blistering disorder caused by an autoimmune reaction. The mucous membranes as well as the skin is affected. Soft fragile blisters usually start in the mouth and on the scalp. Healed blisters leave no scarring.

Pemphigus vegetans: (1) a rare, verrucous form of pemphigus vulgaris in which vegetation develops on the eroded surfaces left by ruptured bullae; new bullae continue to form; SYN: Neumann disease. (2) a chronic benign vegetating form of pemphigus, with lesions commonly in the axillae and perineum; spontaneous remissions and occasionally permanent healing to occur. SYN: Hallopeau disease.
