Sea-blue histiocytosis (medical condition): A rare condition involving the presence of too many histiocytes in the spleen and bone marrow. These histiocytes stain a sea-blue color during testing. These abnormal staining histiocytes have been noted in several diseases such as Niemann-Pick disease, lipid metabolism disorders and Norum disease.

Sea-blue histiocytosis: Rare disorder consisting of splenomegaly, mild purpura secondary to thrombocytopenia, and occasionally, hepatic cirrhosis associated with the appearance of numerous histiocytes in the spleen and bone marrow which stain a sea-blue color.
